Employment Services Employment services offered at GLAD assist deaf and hard of hearing individuals with job information, job training, job placement, and accessibility for the deaf and hard of hearing individuals. Our services are co-located at 5 Employment Development Department (EDD) Offices and at each local GLAD office. The programs under employment services are listed below:

Interpreting Services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. During the normal business day, interpreters are dispatched through the LIFESIGNS business office and 2 regional offices. A private answering service dispatches interpreters to after hours medical, mental health or law enforcement emergencies. LIFESIGNS services include the following:

Empowering Parents
Tri-County GLAD, in collaboration with Child Development Resources, provides the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community with an Empowering Parents Program workshop. This program was designed to provide parents with support and guidance in raising Deaf and hard of hearing children from ages 0 to 5 years old. The curriculum includes materials to cover ages 0 to 36 months old: • Pregnancy and Birth (Pre & postnatal development) • How babies grow (Physical & cognitive development) • Baby’s talk (Language & communication) • Temperament • Cooperation and discipline Other topics include ages 3 to 5 years old: • Listening and talking to children • Self-esteem and encouragement • Misbehavior, cooperation and discipline • Social and emotional development • Temperament • Parenting Styles • Self-Care for Parents • Deafness 101—Realities & myths These classes can be scheduled at your convenience at the Tri-County GLAD office and they are free. Sign Language, Voice and Spanish translation is provided. Included with these workshops, a curriculum summary will be included.
